Most single-floor installations take two to five working days, depending on square footage, subfloor condition and preparation work. Refinishing projects typically run three to five days including finish cure time. Your written estimate includes a realistic schedule for your specific project.

Usually, yes. Solid hardwood can typically be sanded and refinished several times over its life. Floors that have been sanded many times before, or engineered floors with a thin wear layer, may not have enough wood left — we assess honestly and tell you before any work starts.

Sanding creates dust — there is no honest way around that. We take practical steps to reduce and contain it: sealing off work areas, covering vents and cleaning thoroughly as we go. We will walk you through exactly what to expect in your home before the project begins.

Many clients choose to stay elsewhere during the finishing days, mainly because freshly coated floors cannot be walked on and some finishes have a noticeable odour while curing. Waterborne finishes reduce both issues. We plan the schedule with you so you know which days matter.

In most cases we can get very close. We match species, board width and grain, then custom-mix and sample stains on the actual wood. Heavily sun-faded or very old floors are the hardest to match perfectly, and we are upfront about what is achievable.

Solid hardwood is one piece of wood through its full thickness and suits rooms above grade. Engineered hardwood is a real-wood wear layer bonded to a stable core, which makes it the better choice over concrete, in basements and in condos with acoustic requirements. Both are genuine wood floors.

It depends on your building. Most Toronto condo boards specify acoustic underlayment with minimum IIC and/or STC ratings and want documentation before approving work. Check your building’s renovation policy, and bring it to us — we quote materials that meet your building’s actual specification.

Yes. Removal and disposal of carpet, laminate, tile or old hardwood can be included in your estimate. Tell us what is currently down and we will plan and price it as part of the project.

Furniture handling can be arranged as part of the project — let us know what needs moving when you request your estimate. Large or fragile items, pianos and electronics may need specialist movers, and we will flag that early rather than on installation day.

Light foot traffic is typically fine within a day or two of the final coat. Furniture usually returns after several days, and area rugs should wait a couple of weeks so the finish can fully cure. Exact timing depends on the finish used — your estimate spells it out.
