Stain colour is the biggest visual decision in any flooring project — and the one most often chosen from a tiny brochure chip. We sample colours on your actual floor, in your actual light.
The same stain looks different on oak than on maple, different in a north-facing room than a south-facing one, and different at noon than at night. That is why we apply sample patches directly to your sanded floor and let you live with them before deciding.
Colour matching is its own craft: blending a new floor or repair into existing wood means accounting for species, age, sun exposure and the original finish. We mix and layer stains to close that gap.
Why brochure chips mislead
A stain chip printed on paper cannot show how your wood’s grain, density and age will take the colour. On-floor samples are the only honest preview — so that is what we do, every time.
Trend versus longevity
Floors outlast trends. We will happily execute any colour you love, and we will also tell you which choices tend to age well in resale-minded Toronto homes.
Common questions
Can you match my existing hardwood colour?
In most cases we can get very close by custom-mixing stains and testing on sample boards or an inconspicuous area. Sun-faded or very aged floors are the hardest to match perfectly, and we tell you upfront what is realistic.
How many stain samples can I see?
We typically apply several sample patches on your sanded floor and adjust from there. The goal is that you approve the real colour on the real wood — not an approximation.
Do dark or light stains wear differently?
Dark floors show dust and scratches more readily; very light finishes show less but can feel cooler. Sheen matters as much as colour — matte finishes hide wear best. We walk you through the practical side before you choose.
